Labor Member for Lyons Rebecca White has welcomed Brighton Council withdrawing a notification to remove animals from the Jordan River farm school.
“This is a sensible step,” Ms White said.
“The farm school is an integral part of the Brighton community.
“Any decisions made about the future of the school need to be made in consultation with the entire Brighton community.
“Thankfully now discussions can go ahead without the threat of closure.
“I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the community who have rallied to voice their opposition to the Council’s initial decision.
“They have demonstrated the strong support for the school farm and its work.
“Any public debate and discussion held now about the future of the school farm should have the students’ education and welfare as its primary focus.”
