I grew up on a farm and maintain a love of the land and animals. I have two beautiful children and am invested in making sure that they and all our young people get the chance to reach their potential.
I’m passionate about ensuring there is equality of opportunity for all Tasmanians regardless of where they live, their background or circumstances. I am passionate about ensuring regional communities are well represented and supported, and I’m committed to growing Tasmania’s reputation as a great place to work, to visit, and to live.
I was first elected to the Tasmanian Parliament in 2010 for the seat of Lyons and have served as Leader of the Parliamentary Labor Party, a Minister in the Giddings Government, and have held numerous Shadow Ministerial roles.
I graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2004 with a combined Commerce and Arts degree with majors in international business management and marketing, journalism, and political science. In recent years, I became a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
In November 2024, I was announced as the Labor candidate for Lyons for the 2025 federal election.
